At Allyx B. Interior Design, we love to reinvent a client's living space. Shown below are three renovations that we have completed. Our most recent project is shown as the project immediately below and is quite a dramatic transformation.
Our newest completed project shows the total renovation of a residence.
This century old home had many changes over the years and was in an unlivable condition. We kept the original structure, paying close attention to it's historical value. However, especially the Kitchen needed re-evaluation and some major renovation... in this case we did need to run all new utilities inside the structure to maintain the safety of the dwelling. A new roof was needed, so many layers, including more than a foot of dirt, was removed. This eliminated the stress on the original vigas, which corrected the dangerous sagging of the structural beams. With a major face lift in all rooms, this home now shows off it's heritage with a fresh new look.
AFTER -- We created not only a very comfortable seating area, but also incorporated the main heating for this section of the house in the Kiva-look gas fireplace. It is one of our specialties to design the look of a Kiva around a very functional gas fireplace, which is controlled by a thermostat.
BEFORE -- This image shows the condition of the Living Room. Some work had been completed recently by a previous owner, but we had visions of making this a much more pleasing environment.
DURING -- This image shows the renovation prior to the decoration. We have designed a Kiva aound the new gas fireplace unit to return the room to it's orgininal style.
AFTER -- This reinvented living space is a warm and inviting home. Not only has the overall look dramatically changed for the better, but also the function of all rooms have been addressed and improved. We added adequate heating that doubles as a focal point, interest by adding three nichos, and balance by selecting the correct scale, style, and colors for the furnishings.
BEFORE -- This image shows the before condition of the LR. The 30" doorway into the Kit was removed and the space opened to a 10 foot opening.
DURING -- This image shows the new opening into the Kitchen and the new wall colors.
AFTER -- The Kitchen is completely redesigned from the original floor plan. This is the room that needed the most improvement in function and in style. It now has seating for four with a built-in table, all new cabinets, appliances, and highly functional use of space. Notice the custom designed tile backsplash. We artistically "painted" with seven colors of tile to create a balanced "non-repeating pattern."
BEFORE -- his Kitchen was unattractive and exibited a poor use of the space.
We chose a Kitchen Renovation for our next portfolio selection.
This next project is the Pick residence. We have completed design for the entire home and here we show the renovation of the Kitchen. A face lift that continued the flow of the home's new decor.
AFTER - we rebuilt the cabinets and changed the paint color, added new granite counter surfaces and back splash, added cabinet panels on the existing refrigerator, and replaced the sink and Kitchen faucet to refresh this Kitchen.
Yes, this is the BEFORE decor -- just look at the result of our renovation shown to the left!
BEFORE the renovation...
After our renovation this Kitchen has a subtle Santa Fe elegance. The client wanted to introduce green into the Kitchen... we gave them a beautiful, soft green in the adjoining Dining Room and a fresh new color in the Kitchen.

Next Project selected for our Portfolio
We gave this home owner the Cook's Kitchen and entertaining areas, both inside and out, that she always dreamed of having!
In this AFTER photo of the new Great Room, there is a view into the newly renovated Kitchen. We have enlarged the passageway and added the decorative wood molings and tumbled stone tiles to the opening. On the left is the NEW Custom built-in (to match the existing cabinetry) Lighted Wine Glass Cabinet and on the right is a Custom built-in Book Case for cook books that doubles as a small Side Table next to the Bonco.

AFTER -- the Kitchen now gives the impression of being twice the size, but we did not do a costly addition. In this Renovation we corrected all of the electrical (including enlarging and moving the inadequate sub panel out of the Kitchen and into a newly created outdoor access storage closet on the adjacent wall), we added a Subzero Refrigerator at counter depth with Custom matching Cabinet Panels on the left side, and moved an existing Pantry Cabinet to the right side (in place of the protruding Black KitchenAid refrigerator that is now auxillary refrigeration in the basement). The small rolling center cart is gone and a new Lighted Pot Rack is now over the new Stainless Kitchen sink with Grohe Lady Lux Faucett. We also installed a new larger Window over the Kitchen sink, granite counter surfaces, tumbled stone back splash, Sky Light, Low-Voltage Lighting with red and gold Goblet Pendants, and a Silver and Crystal Chandelier with the finishing touch of a Red Murano Glass drop added to the finial. We didn't only improve the overall look of this Kitchen... it is now highly functional with added storage, space to work, improved appliances and fixtures, and dramatically improved lighting.
This is the BEFORE condition of this Kitchen.
BEFORE -- This image shows a crowded, inefficient work area. And the "eye-sore" stainless and black deep refregerator...
We reinvented this lovely seating area with thick, sofa-like Bonco cushions in a durable chenille and down-filled accent pillows for comfort. Existing furniture was rearranged to better suit this area and to improve the function. The ceiling was orignally a medium color stain, but we chose to have it painted white, when the wall color was updated. The old large can incandescent lighting was replaced with "GREEN" Low voltage 'T-Track' satin nickle lighting.
We successfully pleased everyone in the household!
